Posting from a Starbucks like a true city blogger ha!
Training week has been completed, though I made a tiny modification. Yesterday I completed 12 miles at Central Park, yay me! Central Park long loop
I had only schedule 10. But what happened was that Thursday I walked four miles to and from the spot I was running 2 miles. A little silly you may say, but that’s what happens when you don’t think of yourself as a real runner. There is no way I’m going to run in the street in front of people! So I walked all the way to Battery Park City Boardwalk and run two miles and then walked two more miles back to my hostel. I know, silly me!Battery Park City Boardwalk
But you should be proud of me! By the time I hit 10 miles I was in the middle of the park, so it’s not like I was going to stop there. Plus honestly, I felt better at mile 10 than I did at mile 2 and 3 and so on. Those hills are killers!
So I figured I didn’t want to repeat today Saturday the long walk to the boardwalk. Still thinking I will die of embarrassment to run in the street, so I might as well run 2 more miles and skip the 2 miles from Saturday . Well at mile 11.5 I was at my exit. I still had to walk down to 54th street. I only had half a mile more. I could get away from the exit and then walk it back and to 54th, or I could run in the street. I did it! I put on my big girl pants and I conquered my fear.
It was a bit of a “frogger” situation trying to avoid all the walking people, but it was fun! And with so many people “looking” I think I actually run faster! Just half a mile but a great accomplishment.Central Park “picture break”
PS no running today Saturday, I’m exhausted 😜
Yay! Well done, you. 🙂
